IMSL C Numerical Library 8.5 Released With New Algorithms and More Functionality for Streaming Data and Large Data Sets

Rogue Wave Software, the largest independent provider of cross-platform software development tools and embedded components, today announced the release of IMSL C Numerical Library version 8.5. Version 8.5 expands the library with new algorithms for data mining, modeling, and analysis, as well as more functionality for streaming data and large data sets.

With sophisticated, high-performing, reliable analytic capabilities embedded in their software solutions, businesses can dynamically leverage information obtained from their data in combination with their expertise to make better business decisions.

“Our customers use our libraries to create, innovate, and implement technology for their own strategic objectives, such as to improve time to market, lower costs, improve quality standards, broaden their market and revenue base, and much more. The IMSL Libraries embody decades of numerical and statistical algorithm development, and also shield developers from the need to be experts in the latest hardware and software technology,” said Brian Pierce, CEO, Rogue Wave Software. “IMSL C Library version 8.5 represents another step in Rogue Wave's mission to make it easier to develop parallel, data-intensive applications.”

The many new and updated algorithms in the IMSL C Library version 8.5 provide unique numerical analysis techniques to customers in major corporations, academic institutions, and research laboratories worldwide. There are several enhancements and new functions including:

  • More functions that work with streaming data
  • More functions that work with big data or distributed data
  • Decision Trees
  • Apriori for Association Rule Discovery
  • Support Vector Machines
  • Kohonen Self Organizing Maps
  • Vector Auto-Regression
  • Vector Error Correction Model
  • Enhanced parallelization of the solution of sparse linear systems using OpenMP
  • Support of CUDA 5.5

“We are very excited to bring version 8.5 of the IMSL C Library to market,” said Wendy Hou, IMSL Product Manager, Rogue Wave Software. “The new release offers more ways to analyze data and more built-in capability to facilitate a robust, reliable analytical process amid datasets of increasing size and complexity. As always, the IMSL C Library is tuned and validated for compatibility, numerical accuracy, and performance on widely adopted platforms.”
